Neutral, then a shock of pink

I applaud George for embracing the pink!
This room is in George Stephanopoulos' Washington D.C.
home and features a vintage army cot as coffee table,
pink John Derian poufs, and Motley colored walls by C2 paint.

Another Nice Paint Color...

I have been looking and looking at paint swatches for
several days now — trying to decide on the 2010 colors
for Finderskeepers. While browsing, I came across this
handsome color from Benjamin Moore called
Creekside Green. Kudos to designer Amelia T. Handegan
for using it so flawlessly in this dining room.

Bubblewrap Snowdrifts...

Genius window display at the Seattle
Anthropologie! I love the animals with
their knitted headgear — and the bubblewrap
snowdrifts lit from within are a great
inspiration to repurpose whenever you can.

Lonny Magazine Issue Two

The second issue of Lonny Magazine
(http://www.lonnymag.com/) premiered Dec. 10th.
For all of you that deeply miss Domino,
Lonny provides so much comfort. Enjoy!

Dolly Tubs were once used for washing clothes... and children.

After the clothes were washed, the children
would line up and then come out smelling like Dreft!
Now, the Dolly Tubs are great, functional accent
pieces. They make great side tables, firewood storage,
or planters like the one showed in the photo.
Look for them soon at Finderskeepers.

Merry Christmas...or, Why Do We Eat Like Pigs?

We shared a wonderful, blessed Christmas
with Randy's family in Morehead, but boy
am I feeling the results. I've consumed
way beyond my reasonable limit this holiday
season and feel the need to get back on track
with healthier eating habits. Still, we
sure had a lot of fun. We celebrated Christmas
Eve at Glenna's (Randy's sister) house with
some game playing, tons of nibbles, and more
laughter than you could even imagine.
Christmas day started off, once again, at Glenna's
house with Christmas breakfast, unwrapping
presents, and a cozy nap beside her lovely
tree. Later on, we headed to Mitch and Patty's
(Randy's brother and sister-in-law) house for
Christmas dinner.
I feel so blessed to be a part of such a
wonderful, loving family!
Here's wishing you all the same sense
of love and acceptance this
holiday season and all the year through!

Counting Sheep Not Necessary...

The layered rugs, the shirred armoire, red and gray —
and those beams! There is something both contemporary
and homespun about this space... and I love it.

So many things to enjoy here: an elephant centerpiece,
a whimsical hare keeping watch, ocean relic lighting,
hand-thrown bowls, and a beautiful color palette.

Possible Acquisition...

The pose, the moody background, the expression —
all of it makes for a striking piece of artwork.
Now — is she right for what I am trying
to achieve? A little more planning and
time will tell.

Giftwrap...

What a simple and pretty giftwrapping idea!
I forgot to mention inexpensive.

For the Love of Chalkboards...

Make an old storage piece even more functional
by turning the doors into message boards.
Chalkboard as room divider in an already
dramatic loft space.
I love the industrial elements in this kitchen.
Somehow, the chalkboard walls seem to cozy
things up a bit.
The addition of frame lights balances the
casualness and formality.
