Font Love...

Look at the gorgeous font on this lovely little antique spelling book I bought today. Anyone know a font with a similar feel?

Blind Pig...

OK -- so we didn't quite make it to Portland this weekend. Something about a delayed flight. Then something about no flight at all. I won't bore you with the details. So we fled the airport to spend the night at a nearby hotel in Louisville. We woke up and decided to make the most of the day and headed out to explore a few antique shops in the area. That's when we discovered a fantastic place for lunch called... Blind Pig.Johnny Cash was singing Peace in the Valley, old brick walls seemed to be crumbling around us, and repurposed furniture was scattered all about. I especially liked an old sideboard standing in as a host station. Above, discs of corrugated cardboard were stacked to create drum pendant shades.Located in scenic Butchertown near downtown Louisville, Blind Pig boasts house-made European comfort food and offers an Old World inpired wine program, eccentric beer list, and a creative cocktail menu. We sampled two selections from the appetizer menu. Here, fresh-cured salmon and herbs have been pan fried and served with a lemon aioli.We also had the Cannelini Bean Puree seasoned with rosemary, thyme, parsley, and basil.Randy ordered the tasty Fish and Chips of fresh cod and hand-cut frites with malt vinegar and dill aioli. I had the Bison Patty Melt (above). Locally raised bison was cooked to perfection, topped with grilled onions and swiss cheese, then fishished with delicious grilled sourdough bread and a caraway aioli.So delicious -- the bison literally melted in your mouth.We look forward to visiting during dinner to sample the Cassoulet of slow-cooked white kidney beans, house made garlic sausage, and duck confit. Another highlight that stood out on the menu was the Pork Pebronata. The Pebronata is a traditional Corsican stew with red wine braised pork, bell peppers, tomatoes, and Juniper berries. Sounds scrumptious, right?
