Jarlath Mellett...

I loved the recent feature on Jarlath Mellet in the

Jan/Feb edition of Lonny. I especially enjoyed this space

designed by Mellet. The art-wall is spectacular -- and the

sofa and chaise from ABC Carpet & Home create a perfect

perch to view the entire scene.

Former director of design at Brooks Brothers, Mellett now

designs interiors. Mellett approaches his interior projects from

a fashion standpoint, accessorizing his spaces with vintage touches.

Here, the vintage leather butterfly chair is from Mellett's

shop in Amagansett, New York.

Darla Jackson. Rarely do animals personify human

emotion to such great effect.

Woodpile Revisited...

If you read my February 17th and 19th (2010) postings,

then you already know how much a love a great pile of wood.

This image certainly delivers in spades.

Unfortunately, I do not know the source.

Anticipation is making me wait...

Magnificent...

Sometimes magnificent is not an overstatement.

Take Istanbul's The House Hotel for example.

The hotel is in a renovated 1890's mansion and

is adorned with an elegant palette of neutrals

and luxurious finishes. Just take a look at this entrance.

The lounge boasts these handsome Chesterfields

and an architecturally stunning ceiling. Notice

the chandelier; its shows up throughout the hotel.

Perfect details lead you to the rooms. Beautiful parquet floors are featured in the ethereal junior suite.
Scale is key in the bathrooms.
Incredible mouldings punctuate nearly every wall
in the executive suite.

The exposed beams in the penthouse are one of my favorite

features. After all, I do love wood and white.

The Men of Toast...

Perhaps they are not the typical male model —

still, they certainly get the job done

and successfully sell the TOAST aesthetic.
Besides, I'll take an interesting face

over a perfect face any day.

These fantastic dining chairs are now

This little wood and iron accent table is

one of my favorite new additions.

Could someone please name the tune

for 2011. This warm, mid-tone grey has an

Ex Libris Candles Debut...

These wonderful library candles will make their debut

during our Finderskeepers Market Grand Re-opening in March.

Pairing favorite quotes with just the right frangrances,

we pay homage to a few literary greats. First up is

Jane Austen with its mix of Gardenia, Tuberose, and Jasmine.

"There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort."
Next, Poe blends a moody mix of Cardamom, Absynthe,
and Sandalwood.

Whitman (my favorite) blends Grass, Thyme, and Red Clover.
