More than just a home office...

Some standouts in this Kevin Carrigan and Tim Furzer
designed home office include an antique carrier pigeon
skeleton inside a Victorian case, a 1920's English desk,
and a vintage Kevi chair by Fritz Hansen.
I love the apothecary storage cabinet and
Privet House factory lights in this
Lili Abir Regen-designed space.
The flea market desk gives this office the
perfect vintage touch.
Don't you just want to spend the day shuffling through
the stacks in this Upper East Side study
of Malmaison Antiques dealer Roger Prigent?
Deborah Buck's study features a 1920's French
armchair and an amazing antique light fixture.
The porter chair in Darryl Carter's D.C. townhouse
definitely makes a statement.
A neoclassical window in an attic studio.
Enough said.

Total inspiration overdrive...

It is amazing what the creative eye can
achieve. Sure, you can pluck some amazing
things off the showroom floor — but deciphering
context is what it is really all about. Pretty things
are so much prettier when placed by a passionate,
intentional hand. Magic happens.

This brings me to artist/stylist Lisa Madigan.
These images are from her recent home exhibition,
Salted Grace. I am simply bound by the beauty.
The Bamileke headdress above the mantle is
one of my favorite touches.
The marriage of art and space is amazing
in this image. The painting is titled Silent Desire.
I love collections. Better yet, I love
collections displayed with care.
Haze.
Wood, metal, glass — each transformed
under Lisa's watchful eye.

A Story of White...

The story of white begins on the porch of this
Myra Hoefer designed California home.
I love this creative display of hats. Start collecting!
Moose antlers, chocolate mohair, and fun artwork
create an ecelctic living room.
The owner tosses coins he collects during his
world travels into the fireplace. The bull's-eye
is by artist Michael Ives.
Oly's faux bois-table helps create the feeling
of a sleeping porch in the owner's bedroom.
This intimate space is much smaller than the
guest quarters upstairs.
Study or dine? That is the question.
My favorite room is this libray/dining room
with intersting details too many to count.
I also love this cozy seating area at one end of the kitchen.
A sculptural pitchfork lamp becomes the focal
point in the white sitting room.
Where to begin? The Patricia Edwards chairs
with backs covered in old army blankets? The
picnic-style dining table? The centerpiece of
vintage glove forms? Or the Ingo Maurer
chandelier made from love letters on
Japanese paper?

Library Deer...

I have always loved this image. What a genius display idea!
I just discovered it is from Stephen and Shauna's home —
the same folks from Something's Hiding in Here that brought
about the Forage Bow Tie post a few days ago.

Feeling like Fall...

Anyone else ready for Fall?
It is definitely my favorite season — and these images
are acting as inspiration as we give Finderskeepers
its annual autumnal makeover. I love creating all the
new displays to show off all of our latest finds. I will
certainly be posting images before our open house
early in September. I can't wait to share it all with you!

Art of the Bow Tie...

Handsome.
Handsome.
Handsome.
Forage Bow Ties by Shauna Alterio and Stephen Loidolt
available here.

And the winner is...

Remember all those grays I was toying with?
Well, they were for the walls in my new living room
— and I ended up not going with any of them. Instead,
I will be choosing Secret from Benjamin Moore.
A pair of these cement gray lamps just might
make it into the room as well. I'll post photos
once everything is complete.

Unlikely Pair...

Saarinen tables paired with an 18th-century French sofa?
Why not?

These amazing needle felted animals
by artist Victor Dubrovsky make me smile.
I hope they do the same for you.
